Department of Forest Ecology and Biodiversity covers a wide range of knowledge about forest ecology contributing to sustainable management leading to ecologically stable ecosystems and thus enabling creation of multifunctional forest conception. Dominant task of department is collecting, explaining and application of knowledge on conditions, properties and functions of forest ecosystems. In the recent years the main focus of the research lies in impact of global climate change and anthropogenic activities on forest ecosystems and their management. More than two decades essential component of forest ecology is the forest condition monitoring which is the part of European forest condition monitoring on international level.
