International activities in education and forest communication

National Forest Centre – Institute for Forest Consulting and Education Zvolen (NFC–IFCE Zvolen) actively cooperates at international level in the fields of vocational education and communication in forest sector.

International projects

NFC–IFCE Zvolen has rich experience in international projects. At the present time, the Institute cooperates in following ongoing international projects:

VET-SAFETY - aiming at improvement of health and safety in chainsaw operations and work at heights through new standards for vocational education and training. The project evolves previous work further by developing new common standards such as the use of chainsaws & working at heights within the broader skills sectors of agriculture/forestry & the environment. The project is implemented within Erasmus+ framework (Strategic partnerships).

GET-Green - training on environmental ethics for professionals in the fields related to environment, environment protection or environmental impacts. Training material structuring and learning outcomes are based on EQF and ECVET. National Forest Centre is responsible for technical implementation of e-learning platform. The project is implemented within Leonardo da Vinci (LLP) framework.

Completed projects:

DRYMOS - training for forest administrators in Mediteranean countries aimed to provide them with skills and knowledge for their job and personal development, thus contributing to improvement of forest management in Mediteranean region. This has been reached through transfer and creation of practice-oriented blended learning courses for forest sector in Mediteranean countries. The project has been implemented within Leonardo da Vinci (LLP) framework.

Tools For Skills - the project has been targeted at improvement of professional skills and language skills among the European Forest Machine Operator. It is built on the work of two previous Leonardo projects. The project has been implemented within Leonardo da Vinci (LLP) framework.

Foresters towards life long learning for better forest management - developing tangible conditions for life long learning of forestry practitioners of the border regions of Ukraine and Slovakia thus changing the system of forest management towards multifunctional and sustainable (close to nature). The project has been implemented within Hungary-Slovakia-Romania-Ukraine ENPI Cross-border Cooperation Programme 2007-2013.

Hunting and forestry cluster – setting new trade, consultancy and information cluster with market survey, information and marketing services and tools. A specific project objective was to improve conditions for entrepreneurs active in forestry, hunting and tourism through creation the cluster that will enhance development of cross-border business contacts. The project has been implemented within Hungary-Slovakia Cross-border Co-operation Programme 2007-2013
Tracopi – "Enhancing local program based innovation and development – a landscape and natural resources perspective". The project was aimed at improving collaborative planning practices in the field of landscape and natural resources through training for planners. The project has been implemented within Leonardo da Vinci (LLP) framework.
TrainForEducation – transfer of a didactical approach for distance (on-line) learning for further forestry education. The project has been implemented within LLP framework.
VETWOOD – development of training methodology and materials for lifelong learning in woodworking industry in relation to vocational English language training. The project has been implemented within LLP framework.

CaseForest – development of a methodology for teaching about forest ecosystems and their importance for everyday life (forest communication and environmental education). The project has been implemented within LLP framework.

LANSAWOOD – development of health and safety measures including signs and signals in wood-processing industry. The project has been implemented within LLP framework.

NILFORET – a mobility project aimed to transfer best practices in non-formal and informal learning from Finnish education. The project has been implemented within LLP framework.

PAWS – development of a training course for forest-related environmental education. The project has been implemented within LLP framework.

ILEGEFOS – development of vocational German training for forestry staff. The project has been implemented within Leonardo da Vinci framework.

FORESTLANG – development of vocational English training for forestry staff.The project has been implemented within Leonardo da Vinci framework.

 

Other international activities

NFC–IFCE Zvolen cooperates with United Nations through involvement in following networks:
The Institute organized in-country activities of International Year of Forests 2011, European Forest Week 2008 as well as several international seminars on forestry vocational education and forestry communication.
